Notifications and quiet hours
How the bell works, where to find older notifications, how to get alerts on your phone, and how quiet hours hold them overnight.
The bell
The bell in the header shows how many new notifications you have. Click it to see them, most important first. Click one to open it (it’s marked read), or click Dismiss all to clear the list. View all notifications → opens your history.
What you’ll see there:
- New: a new email became a card.
- Reply:, Update: or Reopened: something new happened on an existing card.
- Reminder: a reminder you set.
- Heads up: a deadline is coming. See Deadline heads-ups.
- Plans and ideas from friends, things family added to your lists, bookings and form submissions.
Notification history
The history page keeps the last 7 days, read and unread, with All, Unread and Read tabs and a Mark all read button.
Alerts on your phone or computer
Go to Settings → Notifications and click Enable on this device. Do this on each phone, tablet or computer where you want alerts. See Notification settings for details.
Several emails on the same card show as one notification on your phone, updated each time, instead of a stack.
Quiet hours
In Settings → Notifications → Quiet Hours, choose a start and end time (10 PM to 7 AM to begin with). During quiet hours, phone and computer alerts are held back, but everything still lands in the bell. Reminders you set yourself and critical alerts still come through. Set both times the same to turn quiet hours off.
Finishing or clearing a card clears its notifications too.
