Let family text items to a list
Pick a code word for a list, add your family’s phone numbers, and they text “HONEY buy milk” to add it.
Included on every plan
Set up a code word
- Open Lists, pick the list, and click the share icon.
- Under By text, type a code word, like
HONEYorGROCERY, and click Save code. - Under People who can add by text, enter each person’s Name and phone number, plus an email address if they’d like a receipt. Click Add person.
- Tell them the code word and the Trillitask number shown in the panel.
How they add something
They text the code word first, then the item: HONEY fix the squeaky door. It lands on your list as “fix the squeaky door”, marked Added by their name. You get a notification.
You can use it too: text your own code word from your verified phone to add to your own list.
Code word rules
- 4 to 24 letters or numbers. Spaces and punctuation are removed, so “honey-do” becomes HONEYDO. Capitals don’t matter when texting.
- Each code word is unique across Trillitask, so pick something distinctive. If it’s taken, try another.
- Words like STOP, START and HELP can’t be used.
- To remove a code, clear the box and save.
Good to know
- Trillitask never texts them back. If you added their email address, they get an emailed receipt for each item instead.
- Only numbers you’ve added (and your own) can add by text. Texts from other numbers are ignored, even with the right code word.
- Someone you’ve added who doesn’t have a Trillitask account can skip the code word and just text the item.
- Each person can be on one of your lists at a time. Adding them to another list moves them there.
- If someone texts STOP, they’re removed from every list they were added to. If they text START later, add them again.
- Message and data rates from their carrier may apply.
