Use lists for things that aren’t for today

A grocery list, a honey-do list, gift ideas: lists keep things handy without crowding Today.

Included on every plan

Today is for what matters today. Lists are for everything else you want to keep track of: groceries, projects around the house, gift ideas, books to read. Items on a list stay off Today, out of your briefing and out of your reminders until you want them.

Create a list

  1. Open Lists from the sidebar.
  2. Click + New list and give it a name, like “Groceries” or “Honey-do”.

Or tell the assistant: “make a list called Christmas gifts.”

Add and finish items

  • Type in Add an item… and click Add. Or say “add milk and eggs to my grocery list” in the ask bar.
  • Click the checkbox to finish an item. Finished items move to the bottom, crossed out.
  • Click an item’s title to open it with all its details.
  • Each item shows when it was added, and Added by with a name when someone else added it.

Send an item to Today

Ready to deal with something? Hover over it and click the ← arrow (Return to active tasks). It leaves the list and shows up on Today.

Rename, archive or delete a list

  • Click the list’s name to rename it.
  • Archive hides a list you’re not using. Click Show archived to see archived lists again. Archived lists don’t count toward your list limit.
  • The trash icon deletes a list. Its items are cleared, not erased, so you can still find them with search.

When asking the assistant to add to a list, use the list’s exact name. If no list has that name, it makes a new one.
