Adding more statements later

Upload a new statement anytime, even every week. Duplicates are skipped, bills are matched, and your everyday spending plan stays put.

Uploading a newer statement keeps everything current. Budget sorts it out for you:

  • Transactions you’ve already uploaded are skipped, so downloads can overlap.
  • A bank transaction that matches something you logged with + (same amount, within a few days, similar name) is merged with it instead of counted twice.
  • Payments that match a bill or paycheck (similar name, close amount, within a week of its date) mark it paid.
  • If a bill came in at a noticeably different amount, you’ll get a question asking whether to update it.
  • The account balance is set from the balance you confirm on the review card, so your forecast starts from the real number.
  • Your everyday spending plan stays as it is. The review card shows what that statement averaged, and the plan only changes if you type a new number.

Uploading every week

  • Choose QFX or OFX if your bank offers it. Those files carry the bank’s own transaction IDs, so nothing comes in twice. With CSV, a purchase whose description changes between pending and posted can show up twice in your activity (your balance stays right).
  • A week is too short to spot new monthly bills, so you’ll see the short-statement note. That’s fine for a weekly update: your existing bills still match.
  • A bill you already marked Yes, paid usually merges with its bank transaction. If the bank’s name for it is very different (a Zelle payment for rent, say), it may show twice in your activity.
  • Each upload counts toward your plan’s statement imports for the month.
