Funds: rainy day, vacation and goals
Set money aside in labeled envelopes inside your savings, with optional targets.
Funds are labels on money you’re holding in savings: a rainy-day fund, a vacation fund, Christmas, car repairs.
Create a fund
- On Money, Savings or Home, tap + New fund.
- Name it, pick an emoji, and choose the kind: Rainy day, Slush fund, Goal or Saving for a known cost.
- Add a target if you have one, and how much is already set aside. Tap Save.
Add or use money
Tap the fund, enter an amount and tap Add or Use. Choose where the money comes from or goes back to. By default it’s your everyday account, which also records the transfer into savings. Choose Already in savings to just earmark money that’s already there.
Move money once, on a date
Going on vacation? Tap the fund, then Plan a one-time move for a date. Enter the amount, pick the day, and tap Plan it. It shows on your calendar and in your forecast, and that morning a card asks you to move it. Tap Yes, moved it once you’ve made the transfer at your bank.
Keep vacation money in its own bank account? Add that account on Money (not as your everyday account), then choose it under Into account when you plan the move.
Tap How funds work in a fund (or the ⓘ next to Funds) for a quick explanation.
Want money to go in on its own schedule? Add a savings rule for the fund. For a target date, ask the advisor: “save for vacation, $2,000 by June.” The Savings tab then shows whether you’re on track.
Removing a fund doesn’t ask first, so double-check before you tap Remove fund.
