Turn on two-step verification
Add a code from your phone at sign-in, so a stolen password isn’t enough to get in.
Two-step verification adds a second step when you sign in: a 6-digit code from your phone. Open the profile menu → Settings → Security.
Option 1: an authenticator app (recommended)
- Under Authenticator app, click Enable.
- Scan the QR code with Google Authenticator, 1Password, Authy or any similar app, or type in the manual entry key.
- Enter the 6-digit code the app shows and click Confirm.
It works without cell service, which makes it the most reliable choice.
Option 2: text message
First verify your phone in Settings → Profile. Then under Text message (SMS), click Enable. At sign-in, a code is texted to you. It expires after 10 minutes; tap Resend if it doesn’t arrive.
Signing in
After your password, enter the code and click Verify & sign in.
Turning it off
Click Disable in Settings → Security and confirm. Only one method can be on at a time; turning one on replaces the other.
There are no backup codes. If you lose the phone with your authenticator app, contact support to get back in. If you use text-message codes, turn two-step verification off before removing or changing your phone number.
